How a DECRA Panel Is Built

Each panel is a 7-layer sandwich: zinc/aluminum (Galvalume) steel core, epoxy primer, basecoat, ceramic-coated stone chips, acrylic overglaze, all factory-cured. The stone chips do two jobs — they break up the visual signature of metal so it reads as tile or shake from the street, and they absorb hail impact energy that would otherwise dimple a smooth panel. That's how DECRA earns the Class 4 impact rating with a relatively thin steel substrate.

Installed cost runs $7.50–$11.00 per square foot. A 2,000 sq ft Houston home lands at $15,000–$22,000 fully installed: panels, all trim and flashing, ridge and hip caps, ice/water shield at vulnerable details, synthetic underlayment, and tear-off of the existing roof.
